Open question to all designers....

Why are the lids on Jam jars (and most other jars) smooth? How many of us have had trouble opening a jar and wishing there was a bit more grip on the super smooth lid to help us out? I know I have. Maybe thats something we should change in the future.

Hear the noise....

I love these megaphone speakers by en&is designed for the iPhone, so simple yet so effective. I really like the idea that you dont need to plug these into a power supply. There are far to many wires in the home these days and ideas like this go a long way in helping to reduce that.

Being made of ceramic's they need that 'human touch' to finish them off, which is something  I always like seeing within design.

Death of the movie set?

This is actually the set for the classic under water movie 'Abyss'. It's still sitting in a cooling tower at a disused power plant in the USA and I want to live in it! As stunning as CGI can be in films, you can't replace the essence of real people and places. So we will probably see less of this (if any) in the future.  :(

More 3D for the home.

The 'HP top shot' all-in-one scanner creates one-click studio-quality images of 3D objects

The 'top shot'
all-in-one scanner and laserjet printer by HP captures studio-like images of 3D objects for instant uploading,  amidst a host of other connectivity solutions designed for small business use.the top deck of the device features an overhanging arm with a high resolution camera and flash. when an object is placed on the surface and scanned, the camera takes three images with flash from different angles and three in ambient light with different exposure levels, combining them to mimic a studio-quality product shot.

3D scanners in the home, then next its small affordable 3D printers. I personally cant wait!

Triumph

A classic British company still producing timeless designs. These two are custom to my specs, if you go to their website you can customize their bikes to your wants and needs. Nice.

Handle but no case...

The mBrace.
Simple but effective.

Lush!

Manasseh Langtimm's branding work. The Black Hand, a series of wine bottles based on the Italian extortion racket, would definitely stand out at a liquor store, with Frank Miller-esque graphics, retro newsprint fonts, embossing and beautiful detailing on the wax seals.

New life for old bottles...

I love this, such a simple idea and such a nice use of a bottle that most people would simply throw into landfill. I would really like to try this at home if I can get my hands on a sandblaster.
